Tchivanda, #Ouses dominate NTA Swakopmund Junior Open

Namibia Tennis Association’s (NTA) Swakopmund Junior Open saw Antonio Tchivanda dominate the U25 men’s singles, alongside Natalia #Ouses, who clinched the girls’ U16 singles title.The tournament, hosted in both Walvis Bay and Swakopmund, saw players competing for crucial ranking points that count toward national team selection, across age categories ranging from U10 to U25.
Tchivanda claimed the men’s U25 title, which was contested in a round-robin format. He convincingly won his opening match against AJ Bruwer 6-0, 6-0, before overcoming his final opponent and eventual runner-up, Stephan Koen, 6-3, 6-2. Bruwer finished in third place.
There were no participants in the women’s U25 section.
#Ouses also topped the girls’ U16 round-robin draw. She opened her campaign with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Hilya Campbell, followed by a commanding 6-0, 6-1 victory against Juliana Figeretu. In a decisive match against Kaylar Amutse, #Ouses secured a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win. Campbell and Figeretu finished second and third, respectively.
In the boys’ U16 category, Jaden van der Westhuizen claimed the title, with Kondjeni Shivande and Nicolai Pienaar finishing second and third, respectively.

U14 boys: 1 Daniel Pienaar, 2 Gabriel Gurirab, 3 Steven Gathuru
U12 girls: 1 Albertina Johannes, 2. Immaculate Tanaka Fundisi, 3 Tonata Shikololo
U12 boys: 1 Pameni Paulus, 2 Shafiishuna Shafa, 3 Peter Gathuru
U10 boys: 1 Adriaan Tromp, 2 Ilan Asindi, 3 Pwoove Paulus
There were no participants in the girls’ U10 category.
Tournament director Daniël du Toit thanked all players who competed across the two coastal towns. “We had over 60 entries for the tournament, which is wonderful to see,” he said.
