Rössmund Golf Club put its weight behind a fundraising tournament in support of its junior golf development program last Saturday.

Eighteen junior players took part in what turned out to be an excellent day of golf. The format was a four-ball alliance (each including one junior golfer) with scramble drive and one score to count.

With 18 teams in the mix, it was possible to include a “shotgun start” – bringing everyone back to the clubhouse at approximately the same time to enjoy a well-earned drink and for the kids that oh so welcome ice cream and chocolate sauce.

The organisers extend a big thank you to all parents, sponsors and golfers who supported this great initiative. The winners: 1st, Team Murasiki – Tinaye Murasiki, Theo Haimbondi, Wishes Nyoni, Rudi Auseb Junior.

2nd, Team King Price – Gerhard Hoon, Mari Hoon, Hans Naobeb, R. Opperman Junior.

3rd, Team Jacobs – Mark Jacobs, Achmet Abrahams, George Murasiki, Matthew Jacobs Junior.

Nearest to the pin at hole number 7 – Team Roos.

Cashbox the series winner

Rössmund also concluded the final leg of the Coastal Hire Golf Series last week, with over 30 golfers ensuring that the clubhouse was a buzz.

The series winners were: 1 Cashbox van Wyk (144 points); 2 Fanie Terblanche (139); 3 Marco Swarts (138); 4 Rina Knight (137; came from behind with an excellent 42 points in the last leg); 5 Billy Knight (129).

On behalf of Coastal Hire, Harry Botha confirmed they will be back in 2026.
