Namibia's national women's cricket team is expected to bounce back after loosing their opening game at the Women's T20I Quadrangular Series in Hong Kong.

The Capricorn Eagles, Namibia’s national women’s cricket team, lost their first game against the Thailand Women’s team in the Women’s T20I Quadrangular Series in Hong Kong, China.

Thailand Women defeated Namibia Women by six wickets. Namibia batted first and scored 94 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Opening batswoman and captain Sune Wittmann was the top scorer for Namibia, contributing 33 runs (including six 4s) from 40 balls. Sulleeporn Laomi was the top wicket-taker for Thailand Women, taking two wickets for 13 runs in three overs.

In reply, Thailand Women scored 95 runs for the loss of four wickets in 18 overs. Captain Naruemol Chaiwai laid a solid foundation with the bat, scoring 31 runs (including three 4s) from 38 balls. Phannita Maya added 28 runs (including three 4s) from 28 balls. Irene van Zyl was the most economical bowler for Namibia Women, bowling four overs and taking one wicket for 16 runs.

The Namibians still have to face China and the host nation, Hong Kong. The participating teams are hungry for victory and eager to showcase their skills in a competitive environment. Entering the tournament as the second-highest ranked team at 17th in the world, just behind Thailand, the Capricorn Eagles remain determined to showcase their talent and proudly represent Namibia. This ranking reflects their steady rise in the global cricket arena, and the team is eager to improve their standing.

Namibia previously hosted Hong Kong in 2023, where the Eagles proved to be the better team at home. However, this tournament presents a new challenge. Playing in Hong Kong’s backyard will test the Eagles as they seek to assert themselves on foreign soil.
