Top Score 7-a-Side played at Ramblers

Many participants in the yearly Top Score 7-a-Side competition have heaped praise on the event, saying it gives them a chance to remain fit.

The football competition kicked off on Friday at Ramblers Sport field, with teams battling it out for top prizes.

The annual competition, which sees companies playing against each other, will continue next weekend.

Happy opportunity

Those who were in action this past weekend spoke highly of the competition.

"It has really been a privilege to be able to play in such a competition because it helps us to stay fit.

"I have always played in this competition, and I always look forward to it when it comes to this time of the year.

"I am happy for the opportunity I have been given by my teammates and the company," Mario Jacobs said.

Dedicated

Kenya Kambowe, who plays for the national media team, said he also appreciates taking part in the tournament.

Kambowe, who drove all the way from Rundu to play, says the tournament creates an opportunity for companies to network.

"It is a good tournament, and I feel that it gives people the opportunity to network.

"I am, however, disappointed with the fact that we drew today, but optimistic that we will get more points going forward with the talent that we have," Kambowe said.

This year, Top Score is sponsoring the tournament to the tune of N$134 200. There are eight groups and 64 teams.

"As a former footballer, this is the only way I can get to relive those days by just playing here.

"I am happy and thrilled to be playing here, even if some of the guys are really proving to be good," Ted Marenga said after their match.
