Megabuild employees flourish
Nilton Mbetjiha is a trainee branch manager at Pupkewitz Megabuild
Nilton Mbetjiha, Megabuild trainee branch manager, has been making strides in and out of the company. Born and bred in Opuwo, Mbetjiha moved on and chased his dreams of becoming big in the business scene. During the years 2004 and 2008, he entered the working world and started as a salesman.
"After that, I was employed at Build It, Oshikango, as their sales supervisor and then promoted to branch manager from 2013 – 2021. This was a big step in my career and it made me proud," he says.
Not long after he made that leap in his career, Mbetjiha ha dto brace himself for another move that would set several things in motion for him.
In 2021, he was employed at African Building Suppliers as a sales representative for key customers until he secured employment in January 2022 at Pupkewitz Megabuild as the company's trainee branch manager.
Although his day is packed with managing the branch and ensuring that budgets are met/exceeded to enhance profitability, he still finds time to perfect his skill in order to guarantee success in his career.
"A day in the office for me starts by checking that all staff members arrived on time for work. I then check my email, reply to them and start planning my day to ensure I meet agreed KRAs." he says.
Jack of all trades
Part of his scope includes supervising the sales team and encouraging them to ensure the company reaches its daily target.
"We also try to stick to our excellent service towards our clients. This includes making sure new projects are communicated and existing projects are given full attention. I further supervise the buyer to make sure that stock is ordered, received on time, and then I follow up on outstanding orders.”
Mbetjiha protects company assets from violation and is a voice to his team. He thrives on success and does everything that he needs to do, to perfection.
Only having been at the company for two months excites Mbetjiha because he believes that Megabuild has an excellent track record and is a strong example of leadership in the building industry.
"I have been in the building trade for more than 17 years and that experience I definitely think would prove beneficial to the company hence why I decided to join them." he says.
Great opportunity brings great responsibility
Taking on new tasks makes room for mistakes but also creates opportunities for success.
"I have managed to bring ex-clients back on board, including new ones. Furthermore, I trained my co-workers on how to handle key customers. My job further expects me to deliver quality products and provide first-class customer service to retain the existing customer and achieve growth," he says.
He describes some challenges as manageable and says he has had to consider new suppliers and emphasise prices, keep an eye on competitors as well as assess their new services and marketing strategies.
"Also, being part of new work cultures. It takes time to gain the trust of your co-workers and get them on board."
He hopes to inspire people to always be respectful and friendly to everyone regardless of their position. To not be afraid to take risks, get outside your comfort zone and always challenge oneself to learn more.
