The league aims to provide professional and structured opportunities for secondary schools across the country to unite and show their excellence in rugby. By including schools nationwide, the league fosters unity, sportsmanship, healthy competition while players get exposure and opportunities to grow.

A highlight at the launch, was the unveiling of Momentum as the league’s headline sponsor. Momentum has committed to sponsoring the league for four years. Marketing Group Executive Denille Roostee was at the event, where she emphasised the company’s commitment to youth development and school sports, emphasising the overall aim of the league.

Rodger Kambatuku, the national coordinator of the NSSU, who was represented by Hanganeni Fikunawa, commented, “Today’s launch marks a milestone in our mission to strengthen, structure, competitive and developmental school sports across the country.”

Seven of the participating schools - Moria, Pro-Ed Academy, Windhoek Afrikaanse Privaatskool, Windhoek Gymnasium, Windhoek High School, Roots Gymnasium and De Duine Secondary School - were represented at the event by their principal, coach and captain of the first rugby team.

In 2025, My Zone announced its commitment of N$2.5 million over the course of five years to a partnership with Namibia Secondary Schools Rugby (NSSR) to aid and support the development of school rugby in Namibia. This launch was a stepping stone in the direction of creating a platform and opportunity for young rugby players to develop their skills and show their talents to the rest of Namibia.

The Momentum NSSU league powered by My Zone season is set to kick off in June with fixtures and further details to be released in due course.
