Augustineum's love language is entertainment
Many people show their appreciation towards others through gifts and affection. But for Augustineum, they shattered the dance floor.
On 14 February, Augustineum Secondary School held its first event of the year, the Valentine’s show. This show aimed to equip learners with leadership skills and to build a better future for themselves through music.Appy Mabizela and Linekela Necky, two former students of the school, are artists. They decided to motivate the young ones by showcasing their talents at the event, which allowed learners to express their skills. Three groups including the school's peer educators performed at this event.
"We wanted to get as many learners as we can to spread a message of love and positivity. The first song we performed is called 'Like A Boss', which encourages learners to be authentic about the ideas they love. We were once at the same stage as you, where education is not easy. Identify your talents and use them wisely, because not everyone is academically gifted," Linekela said.
Keishna Martin had this to say about the show: "Being part of the show was a good experience and very exciting. Although there was a cost of N$20 for entrance, it did not stop me from going. I liked how they spread their message because most of us barely enjoy speeches".
"This event helped promote artists and raise funds for our future leaders," Tsaura Witbooi, one of the teachers who assisted in organising the event, said. She indicated that the event went better than last time, showing growth, diligence and compassion in this year's leadership. She added that they experienced a few negative aspects, but that they will improve next time they have an activity and make it even better. "The show was amazing."
