Education ministry amends school ­calendar

The ministry of education, arts and culture announced a change in the school semester calendar for the 2022 academic year on 10 May.

Currently, the calendar for 2023 hangs in the balance as stakeholders in the education sector were approached with two proposed calendars for their input, Paulus Nghikembua, the Khomas regional director for education, said.

The calendar that wins the favour of the majority of stakeholders will be adopted by the ministry for the 2023 academic year.

The amended 2022 academic calendar is as follows:

First semester

First school day – Monday,

10 January

Public holiday: Independence Day observed - Monday,

21 March

Public holiday: Good Friday - Friday, 15 April

Public holiday: Easter Monday - Monday, 18 April

Midterm break - Tuesday,

3 May to Friday, 6 May

Public holiday: Africa Day - Wednesday, 25 May

Public holiday: Ascension Day - Thursday, 26 May

School holiday - Friday,

27 May
