Welwitchia University has signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) with Hope Home-Based Health Care aimed at enhancing practical training opportunities for students enrolled in its Bachelor of Social Work and Nursing programmes.

The agreement was signed in Windhoek on 8 June 2026 by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Marius Hedimbi and Hope Home-Based Health Care founder and executive director Eglien Uises.

The partnership establishes a collaborative framework focused on student field placements, joint training and capacity-building initiatives, research collaboration, community outreach programmes, programme development and evaluation, as well as joint grant applications for health-related projects.

Through the agreement, students will gain access to supervised practical placements where they can apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings while developing professional skills required in the health and social care sectors.

According to the two institutions, the partnership reflects a shared commitment to advancing community-based learning, improving service delivery, and contributing to the development of competent, work-ready graduates.

Welwitchia University’s director of corporate engagement and international relations, Christell Nassauw, said the partnership would particularly benefit students in the Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Nursing programmes.

She said Hope Home-Based Health Care was selected because of its alignment with the university’s academic programmes.

Welwitchia University said the agreement marked an important step towards strengthening experiential learning and deepening cooperation with an organisation that shares its commitment to education, service delivery and community impact.
