A thrilling netball season

The Outjo Secondary School first netball team has had quite an exciting season this year. They competed in multiple tournaments, including one in Khorixas, hosted by Cornelius Goraseb High School.

The players took a bus ride from Outjo to Khorixas to compete against the other teams.

This tournament was only the start of the season. As such, it served as a friendly warm-up round to gauge the skills of the players before competing in other tournaments, such as the Netball League.

Team captain, Leandrea Coetzee, praised the girls' performance. "We played really well. Every moment on that field, we gave it our all. There are many things we can improve on, definitely, but I am really happy with my team and our ability to work together." The team demonstrated excellent teamwork that only improved as the season continued.

They also competed in the Capricorn Schools Netball League. Unfortunately, they did not reach the top four but played well during the entire season against schools all over the country. A particularly engaging match was against Walvis Bay Private High School that took place on 2 August.

The match started slow, as they were only able to squeeze a minor lead out against them at the beginning. However, due to the skill and teamwork of these players, that gap widened to a 27–17 victory. The grit and determination of the team were on full display.

Some of these players will stay behind and be part of the 2025 netball team, where they will be ready to achieve even greater results.
