Concordia welcomes the Class of 2030
The Welcome Concert rolled out the red carpet for the Grade 8s, giving the newest members of the campus community a chance to introduce themselves not through formal speeches, but through style, rhythm and raw talent.
The afternoon kicked off with a modelling segment. The "greenies" swapped their school bags for the runway, navigating the stage with a poise that defied their age. From confident strides to camera-ready poses, these young talents proved that first impressions are best made boldly. The crowd’s roar of approval set a high-energy tone that persisted throughout the event, proving that the Class of 2030 was ready for the spotlight.
The stage soon became a whirlwind of artistic expression as singers followed, filling the venue with vibrant vocals that ranged from soulful melodies to upbeat crowd-pleasers. Dancers brought dynamic choreography to life, moving in perfect sync and commanding the stage with remarkable confidence. To round out the performances, the Drama Club added theatrical flair, weaving humour and creativity into the program and reminding the audience that storytelling remains at the very heart of the Concordia experience.
A particularly memorable moment was the crowning of the Greenies King and Queen. For the newly minted king, the experience was a transformative start to high school. He shared with a grin that the concert felt like stepping into something completely new - nerve-wracking at first, but exciting in the best way possible.
He added that the warm welcome made him even more eager to make the most of his journey. The queen reflected on the event with equal enthusiasm, describing the concert as a wonderful opportunity to express her talents while connecting with her peers. Beyond showcasing her skills, she felt the experience helped her feel truly part of the community from day one.
Throughout the event, the LRC remained composed and organised, ensuring the programme flowed seamlessly. Teachers watched with visible pride, offering encouragement and support to every performer.
