Deltarians striving for excellence
Honouring hard work and success
On 5 March 2025, Delta Secondary School hosted its annual prize-giving ceremony for the Grade 8 to 10 learners of 2024 in the school hall. This event highlighted the learners’ commitment to the school’s core values - “Wissen, Werken, Wollen” - which directly translates to “Knowledge, Action, Determination”, as demonstrated throughout the 2024 academic year. Our principal, Mrs Peterson, gave a warm welcome and shared a few academic jokes to set the tone. Many companies and individuals supported the event by sponsoring prizes for the top achievers. These high flyers received their subject-specific awards following the general merit awards.
Delta is not only known for its high achievers, but also for its vibrant culture. The event featured a performance by the dance group Lemonade and a guitar solo by our head boy, Immanuel Gawaseb.
Itavela Hangula, one of our LRCs, has held the top position ever since she joined the school in 2022, consistently demonstrating academic excellence. She continues to compete with other outstanding learners such as Mathues Ndawedapo, Espan Shigweda, and Ayumi Lesar.
This year’s prize-giving ceremony served as a reminder to all Deltarians that anything is achievable through hard work and dedication. It also reflected the drive and ambition that learners at Delta Secondary School show towards academic success.
