In a step towards national digital transformation, the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST), in partnership with VEYA ICT and global software leader Systems, Applications and Products in Data Processing (SAP), officially launched the SAP Education Training Programme in Namibia. The landmark event, held at the NUST Hotel School, marks a pivotal commitment to equipping Namibians with world-class, industry-relevant digital skills.

The launch was attended by key figures from government, academia, and the private sector. The keynote address was delivered on behalf of the deputy education minister Dino Ballotti by Knox Imbuwa.

In the address, Imbuwa emphasised the programme's alignment with national development goals. “We are living in an era defined by unprecedented, rapid technological advancement. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is no longer a distant concept – it is our present reality,” he said. “This partnership between NUST, VEYA ICT, and SAP South Africa demonstrates the tangible results that can be achieved when academia, industry, and government collaborate, ensuring that every Namibian has the opportunity to participate meaningfully in the growth of our economy.”

Prof. Andrew Niikondo, Acting Vice-Chancellor of NUST, welcomed guests and highlighted the initiative’s alignment with the university’s strategic vision. “Today’s launch represents a major step in Namibia’s digital transformation journey and aligns directly with NUST’s strategic goal to be a leader in technology-driven education, innovation, and applied research,” he said. He added that the partnership, formalised through a Memorandum of Agreement with VEYA ICT, aims to position Namibia as a regional hub for SAP education.



Future-ready workforce

The collaborative programme is designed to deliver world-class training and certification in critical areas such as data analytics, enterprise resource planning, business processes, and systems management. These skills are essential for driving innovation, operational efficiency, and global competitiveness across all sectors of the Namibian economy.

The launch also aims to create national and regional awareness that premier SAP Education is now accessible in Namibia through NUST. It reinforces the university’s role as a catalyst for digital transformation and demonstrates the country’s readiness to build a globally competitive, technology-savvy workforce.

As echoed by all speakers, this initiative is more than a ceremonial milestone – it represents a transformative investment in Namibia’s human capital, empowering a new generation of innovators and digital leaders who will shape the nation’s future.
