IUM strengthens ties with Russian University through language and research collaboration
The International University of Management (IUM) has reaffirmed its commitment to international partnerships by hosting a delegation from Russia’s Perm State Humanitarian Pedagogical University on Thursday at its Dorado Campus (Main campus).Speaking at the event, IUM founder and chairman of the governing council, Prof. Dr. David Richard Namwandi, said the visit by the Russian delegation marks “another opportunity to strengthen our friendship and partnership.”
Prof. Dr. Konstantin Egorov, rector of the Russian university, led the delegation, which also included Dr. Mikhail Nikitin, charge d’affaires of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Namibia.
Namwandi highlighted the success of the two institutions’ ongoing collaboration, particularly the introduction of Russian language classes at IUM. “The teaching of the language has attracted a lot of enthusiasm amongst our students, staff, and the public, which is truly amazing,” he said.
The Russian language programme, now entering its second cycle, will be formally launched later on Thursday. Namwandi noted that the collaboration extends beyond language learning to include joint research, student and staff exchanges, and academic networking.
“I strongly believe that when institutions of higher learning partner meaningfully, they bring nations closer together, thus promoting global citizenship and enhancing mutual understanding and respect among people,” he said.
The event was attended by IUM vice chancellor Prof. Osmund Damian Mwandemele, pro-vice chancellors, members of the executive management committee, and several deans and directors
