Love in the air

'Woche der Liebe'
Eden Piek
The week of love, better known as Woche der Liebe at Delta Secondary School, took place from 10 to 14 February 2025. Love was expressed in many ways throughout the week, while simultaneously honouring the late Founding Father.

Due to the mourning period for the late President, the Valentine’s Day Ball was postponed. However, the tradition of passing around love letters—whether romantic or platonic—continued.

Here are some thoughts from individuals who wished to remain anonymous:

“I don’t think Woche der Liebe is necessary, considering the funeral.”

“It seems boring to me.”

“I think love should be shown and celebrated regularly, not just for one week.”

“It was okay. It was unfortunate that we didn’t have as many events during the week as in previous years.”

One could see this week as the light at the end of the tunnel, following the death of our beloved Founding Father—an event that not only left the nation reeling, but also heartbroken. And yet, it remained the week of love and Valentine’s Day, where affection among learners was evident in the exchange of letters, bouquets, chocolates, or simply a warm hug from someone familiar.

Even in the face of unforeseen circumstances, love across the nation continued to shine through.
