The My Zone NSSR U/17 Sevens team has officially been named and will soon represent Namibia at the prestigious National U/17 Sevens Tournament in Worcester, South Africa, from 9 to 11 October 2025.

The tournament, hosted at HTS Drostdy, will see 16 top schoolboy teams from across South Africa and Namibia go head-to-head. Among the invited unions are the Blue Bulls, Western Province, Free State, Boland, Golden Lions, KwaZulu-Natal, and Namibia.

Following rigorous trials at Windhoek Gymnasium, 12 of Namibia’s most promising young players were selected from schools across the country. The squad, led by head coach Justin Nel, is determined to showcase Namibian rugby talent on one of the biggest schoolboy rugby stages in the region.

NSSR convener Ainsley Daniels described the selection as a milestone for the code, saying it is a proud moment for schools rugby:

“This opportunity is a milestone for our players and the entire Namibian rugby schools community. We are confident that our U/17 Sevens squad will fly the Namibian flag with pride, determination, and sportsmanship.”

My Zone, which has partnered with NSSR to make the campaign possible, echoed this sentiment. The sponsorship, they said, is more than just financial backing; it is about building the future of Namibian rugby.

“We are absolutely thrilled to see the sponsorship funds being directed towards the growth and development of our U/17 boys. This has always been the very heart and purpose of the partnership to invest in the next generation and give them every opportunity to shine on the rugby field, and now to partake in South Africa on a stage of such magnitude.”
