Oshakati Secondary School celebrated the achievements of its learners on 27 September by presenting awards for their outstanding performances in the 2024 mock examinations.

The event was organised to recognise the students’ dedication, hard work and excellence in both academics and social activities.

Awards were given to learners who achieved exceptional results, scoring between 75% and 100%. In addition to academic excellence, awards were also presented to various groups like the LCM, the LRC committee, those who demonstrated exemplary sportsmanship and the overall top performers.

The special guest for the event, Martin Mateus, the inspector of education for the Oluno circuit, expressed his pride and joy in the students’ accomplishments. He congratulated them for their efforts and success, encouraging them to continue striving for excellence. The school’s principal, OJ Shilongo, emphasised that these awards are not only a way to show appreciation but also serve as a motivation for all students to always put in their best effort.

Many students received certificates and gifts for their remarkable achievements, and they expressed their joy and gratitude for the recognition.

The language department, in particular, stood out, winning the floating trophy for 2024. This recognition was due to the large number of awards learners received in English, Afrikaans, Oshikwanyama and Oshindonga. The head of the language department, Shikongo, was visibly pleased with the department's success.

The ceremony awards highlighted the importance of hard work and the positive outcomes it brings, motivating the students to continue striving for success in the future.
