Sharing Flavours, Sharing cuisine : Nust Hotel school hosts Turkish cuisine week in Namibia
The embassy of the Republic of Turkey hosted a Turkish cuisine day at Nust Hotel school, to foster cultural exchange between Türkiye and Namibia to celebrate and promote Turkish Cuisine Week internationally and to highlight the importance of family and the role of shared meals in building connections.
The embassy of the Republic of Turkey hosted a Turkish cuisine day at Nust Hotel school, to foster cultural exchange between Türkiye and Namibia to celebrate and promote Turkish Cuisine Week internationally and to highlight the importance of family and the role of shared meals in building connections.The ambassador of Turkey, Feral Çekerek Oruçkaptan, said that the Turkish Cuisine Week, is organized throughout the world every year under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye and led by First Lady, EmineErdoğan.
She added that it is an opportunity to showcase the richness of their culinary tradition which emphasizes sustainability and healthy eating.
“Our Turkish Cuisine Week celebrations carry an even deeper meaning,” she said.Oruçkaptan highlighted the importance of sharing a meal with family. She said, ” We wish to remind everyone how food and especially the act of sharing a meal has the power to bring families together in a meaningful way.”
Oruçkaptan shared an example such as the tradition of sharing Turkish coffee, an item of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list. She quoted the old saying, “A cup of coffee drunk together remains in the heart for forty years.”
The ambassador also noted that this year’s celebration focuses on classical Turkish dishes, inviting guests to experience their history, flavors, and the communal spirit they represent.
