In October, the Academia school community gathered for one of the most anticipated events of the year - Valedictory Day.

This annual celebration is dedicated to honouring the outstanding achievements of the school’s graduating class, and this year it was particularly special as Wilhelmina Shikesho was recognised as the top achiever.

The event, which brought together learners, teachers, parents and dignitaries, was a day filled with joy, reflection and inspiration. It not only marked the end of a significant chapter in the lives of the graduating class, but it also celebrated the hard work, dedication, and resilience that helped these young minds reach this important milestone.

Valedictory Day is more than just a farewell; it’s a moment of appreciation and recognition for the students who have excelled in academics, leadership and character throughout their school years. With a strong academic record, a commitment to excellence, and a remarkable work ethic, Shikesho stood out as a shining example of what can be accomplished with determination and passion.

As she took to the stage to receive her award, her peers and teachers erupted into applause, celebrating her exceptional accomplishments.

"I feel incredibly grateful, blessed and favoured," she said. "This achievement is not just mine; it's the result of the love and support of my family, my teachers and my friends. I wouldn’t be here without them."

As the graduating class takes the next step toward their futures, the lessons learned, the friendships forged and the memories created will remain with them forever. For Shikesho, it’s a reminder that success is not only about the destination but about the journey. With her determination, gratitude and belief in herself, there is no doubt that she is poised for even greater accomplishments in the years to come.
